The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Bar Council of India (BCI) to find out if the owners of a hospital in Dwarka, where a few beds were available, were willing to hand it over for COVID treatment.
The Court further directed the Health Secretary to issue a fresh district wise allocation order of Remdesivir vials based upon the order of the Central Government dated 1.5.2021 which should be effective for a period from 1st May, 2021 till 9th May, 2021.
The Court passed these directions in the Suo Motu plea on the supply of oxygen, ensuring availability of essential drugs, and streamlining the modalities for vaccination amid the COVID-19 pandemic in India
The Court said, if the impugned scheme allowed to be executed in favour of the beneficiaries, would convey inappropriate signal in the society that the Conductors who are involved in cases of misappropriation & corruption are being reinstated in the Corporation.
The petition has been filed by employees of Standard Chartered Bank who left the said bank in 2020 and 2014 respectively alleging that the Special Court under PMLA cannot try offences triable by Courts designated under the Code of Criminal Procedure.
In such a situation, instead of saying that beds without oxygen are useless, the government should consider taking the help of the Army in supplying oxygen to the patients,” he added
The court directed the Central Govt to supply oxygen by whatever means. Justice Sanghi said: “Do you want us to let people die in Delhi? Do u want us to shut our eyes?”
