According to the High Court, ED's plea for revoking the approver status was not maintainable as statement under Section 306 (4) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) that requires recording of the statement of an accomplice who has been granted a pardon, had not been recorded.

The District Administration had issued a recovery notice against Maulana Saif Abbas for Rs 67 lakh. This recovery notice was issued on the property damage in the CAA-NRC Violence. Maulana has challenged the recovery order of the administration of March 3, 2020 and June 16, 2020 in the High Court.
