The Supreme Court of India on Thursday dismissed the review petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation seeking cancellation of bail granted to P. Chidambaram by the Court in its earlier order.
The former Union minister was arrested by the CBI in INX Media Case on August 21, 2019 alleging that he has misused his position as Finance Minister to grant FIPB clearances and thus committed an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Trial Court as well as the Delhi High Court rejected the bail application filed by the former minister against which he preferred a special leave petition before the Apex court. The Supreme Court on 22nd October, 2019 allowed the SLP and granted him bail, against this order the CBI filed the Current Review petition.
Acting upon the plea, the bench comprising of Justice R. Banumathi, Justice A.S. Bopanna & Justice Hrishikesh Roy, observed that We have perused the Review Petition and the connected papers carefully and are convinced that the order, of which review has been sought, does not suffer from any error apparent warranting its reconsideration.
The Review Petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court.
