SCAORA Requests SC To Set Up Sufficient Facilities For Video Conferencing In Court Premises

The Supreme Court Advocates-On-Record Association (SCAORA) through its honorary Secretary Joseph Aristotle S. has written a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court requesting to set up Video Conferencing facility in the Supreme Court premises.

The Association has stated that many members of the bar have complained of connectivity issues and technical glitches while appearing in the Virtual Court vide the Vidyo app through their respective desktop/laptop/mobiles. Moreover though there have been many grievances, however no proper redressal is available even after timely complaining of the technical glitches vide emails and call to helpline no.1881.

The Association has further requested that the email communicating the request for availing the video conferencing facility to appear in Virtual Court at the Supreme Court premises may be extended from 2 pm of the previous day to 10 am of the day in which the matter is listed.

The association has also written with reference to the listing of part heard, regular and after notice matters and requested to list those matters only after the joint consent of the concerned AORs/Party-in-Persons.

“We request that in Future with regard to the part heard, regular and after notice matters, an advance list with sufficient notice period of at least two weeks may be published. That, on receipt of joint consent with regard to willingness for appearing and arguing the matter in Virtual Courts, the matter may be listed in the cause list as described in the schedule of publication vide the SOP dated 04/07/2010. Further that Advocates may also be permitted to circulate letters accordingly,” said the SCAORA.
