HC, Directed The Joint Director, DU Computer Centre And Dean (Examination) To Join Proceeding Tomorrow For Late In Issuance Of Degree To Doctors

Today a single judge of Delhi High Court on the plea of five MBBS doctors, who graduated in 2018 from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, but did not receive their degree-certificate till date, observed that “Students ought not to be forced to approach Courts for issuance of their mark-sheets, transcripts, degree- certificates etc., which ought to be issued in the natural course within a reasonable time.”

Justice Pratibha M. Singh after hearing the petitioners, directed Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Joint Director, DU Computer Centre and Dr. Vinay Gupta, Dean (Examination), DU to join the proceedings before this Court tomorrow i.e. 23rd July, 2020, in order to examine the feasibility of setting up a special cell to issue marksheets, transcripts, degree-certificates and other relevant documents online and also in order to enable students to have a proper interface with Delhi University.

The petitioners counsel Mr. Sarthak Maggon contended that this Court’s order dated 7th July, 2020 in Dhritiman Ray v. University of Delhi [WP(C) 3945/2020] directed to urgently making available the degree certificate of the Petitioner therein. The Petitioners further submit that they wish to apply for their residency programmes in the United States and to sit in the USMLE examination and the date by which the degree-certificates would have to be uploaded for processing to the ‘My ECFMG’ mobile application would be 15th August, 2020.  

The Counsel for the University Mr. Hardik Rupal, submits that in line with this Court’s order dated 7th July, 2020 Delhi University is taking steps for giving the tender for printing the degree-certificates in an expeditious manner.
