Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, now a Rajya Sabha member, was yesterday (July 23) appointed head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for External Affairs.
According to a media release, “A day after administering the oath/affirmation to 45 of the 61 newly elected members of the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Shri Venkaiah Naidu… nominated all the new members on different Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committees.”
Among other prominent names just into government was former Congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was made head of the standing committee on HRD.
