Delhi Bar Council wants lawyers’ cooperation in physical opening of HC

New Delhi: The Bar Council of Delhi has made an appeal to all advocates to fully cooperate with the Delhi High Court‘s decision of opening courts for physical hearings.

A letter, written by K.C. Mittal, Chairman, Bar Council of Delhi, states: “We noticed that a section of colleagues in the profession are against resumption of physical hearing, but it is not the appropriate time for raising voice in favour or against physical hearing since the model is going to be implemented is on experimental basis and we hope that it will protect the interest of the stakeholders in the system.”

The bar council has commended the high court for its decision to re-open courts from September 1, in a gradual manner.

This step is in the right direction for the resumption of court working and the onus on all of us to make it a success,” the Bar Council of Delhi has said.

The Bar Council of Delhi has appealed to the advocates to join together in this present situation to overcome it and refers this present situation as that of being “between the devil and the deep sea.”

The letter says: “Considering the gravity of the complexity of the matter, we would appeal to all Advocates to fully cooperate and make use of the physical opening of courts on a rotational basis to mitigate the hardship and it is time for Coordination Committee and Bar Associations and the Advocates, in general, to come forward to assist the Hon’ble Chief Justice and other Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Delhi to put in place a comprehensive plan and ensure that there is due compliance of the same, to obviate any adverse situation”.
