New Delhi (ILNS News Service): In a press conference held in Delhi today, Chief Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced that the Bihar elections will be held in three phases and will commence on the October 28. The other dates are November 3 and November 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
The CEC said that that each poll booth will have 1,000 voters instead 1,500. There will be more booths to ensure social distancing. He further said that some way have to be found to balance democratic rights of the electorate while also making sincere and systematic efforts to protect health and safety of people.Beside the option of postal facility for COVID patients who are quarantined will be able to cast their vote on the last day of poll at their respective polling stations, under surveillance of health authorities. In this regard over 7 lakh hand sanitisers, 46 lakh masks, 6 lakh PPE kits, 6.7 units of face shields, 23 lakh pairs of hand gloves have been arranged, he said.
