Kolkata (ILNS): The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department has submitted a progress report to the Calcutta High Court of the investigation into the killing of BJP leader Manish Shukla.
The division bench of Justices Sanjib Banerjee and Arijit Banerjee heard a public interest litigation filed by advocate Priyanka Tibrewal, seeking a CBI inquiry into the gunning down of BJP leader Shukla on October 4.
The Petition states that the deceased was mercilessly shot down by unidentified assailants riding on motorcycles, near the Titagarh Police Station.
Pursuant to the previous direction, a report has been filed by the CID before the high court in a sealed cover indicating the progress made in the probe and the steps taken.
The Court has asked the West Bengal government to file an affidavit in reply before the next of hearing on November 10. “An advance copy of the affidavit should be forwarded to the advocate for the petitioner at least seven days prior to the next date of hearing,” the Court directed the state.
