New Delhi (ILNS): On the direction of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the CBI has filed an FIR against 16 people for defaming judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Supreme Court. The FIR, filed on November 11, lists a number cases, covering suspected activities related to intentionally provoking, promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will; criminal intimidation; publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form etc.
All the cases were being previously investigated by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department.
The FIR said: “In view of the similarities in the nature of allegations and the modus operandi, these 12 cases are being clubbed into one FIR, for the purpose of uniformity and to look into commonality if any.”
The complaint says: “On October 10, the petitioner i.e. the High Court of Andhra Pradesh by invoking the writ jurisdiction under Article 226 of Indian constitution directed the CBI to take up the investigation into 12 cases registered by CID PS and CCPS, CID Amravati. These cases were initially registered by the CID, based on the complaints registered by Registrar General, Honourable High Court, Andhra Pradesh on the allegations that the key personnel who are occupying posts of prominence in the State by intentionally targeting the honorable judges made interview/posts/speeches attributing motives, caste and corrupt allegations to some of the Supreme Court and high court judges in delivering orders/judgments and they posted abusive, life threatening and intimidating postings against Honorable judges on social media i..e Facebook, twitter over the recent judgments or orders delivered by the judges of the high court.”
