New Delhi (ILNS): The Delhi High Court today dismissed a plea challenging the Central Government’s order allowing the telecast of Sudarshan TV’s programme ‘Bindas Bol’, stating that the Supreme Court is already looking into the matter.
Justice Navin Chawla, while hearing the petition through video conferencing, rejected the repeated requests of the counsel appearing for the petitioner seeking adjournment in the matter till the decision of the Supreme Court.
The petition has been filed by Syed Mujtaba Athar and Ritesh Siraj challenging the order of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting allowing the Broadcast of programme, ‘Bindas Bol’ that has claimed to telecast a “big expose on conspiracy to infiltrate Muslims in government service.”
The petitioners had submitted that the ministry has not exercised its powers under the Cable TV act for prohibiting the programme “Bindas Bol”.
Earlier, on August 28 the High Court had stayed the telecast of the programme and later directed the Ministry to take a decision with regards to the issue.
The petitioners had alleged that the show is full of hate speech, whereas, an irreparable loss will be caused if the matter is not adjudicated prior to the broadcast of the programme.
