A public interest litigation has been filed in Delhi High Court seeking the removal of mobile caller tune on Covid-19 awareness in the voice of actor Amitabh Bachchan. Before a mobile phone call is connected, Bachchan’s message warns people to wear masks and practice social distancing to prevent the coronavirus infection.
The petition was filed by Rakesh, a Delhi-based social worker, through Advocates A.K. Dubey and Pawan Kumar, and sought the removal of Bachchan’s voiceover from the Covid-19 caller-tune.
In the petition, it was stated the Government of India has been paying fees to Bachchan for chanting preventive measure on caller ringtone. There are some corona warriors who have been doing great service to the nation and helping the poor and needy people without any payment. Therefore, Amitabh Bachchan is not suitable for “such service”, claimed the petitioner.
The petition further alleged that as per a report Herald published on November 9, 2020 that Bombay High Court admitted the writ petition filed by National Organization for Tobacco Eradication against Amitabh Bachchan for violating the Anti-Tobacco Act.
Moreover, the Allahabad High Court has reserved its order on maintainability of Bachchan’s petition challenging the order of Faizabad Additional Commissioner declaring as illegal the allotment of farming land to him at Daulatpur Village in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
On November 11, 2020, a FIR was lodged against Amitabh Bachchan regarding his KBC Show for asking the question related to Manusmriti in Karamveer Episode where Social Activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anoop Soni came as guests, the petition states.

It is urged in the petition that the senior actor does not have a “clean history” and he also does not serve the nation as a “social worker”.
The Court has fixed the matter on January 18 for further hearing.
