Jasmeet Singh, Amit Bansal sworn in as judges of Delhi High Court

The High Court now has a total of 31 judges against the sanctioned strength of 60. The oath of office of Justices Jasmeet Singh and Amit Bansal was administered by Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.N. Patel.

Jasmeet Singh and Amit Bansal were sworn in as new judges of the Delhi High Court when they took the oath of office on Wednesday. 

With the two new additions, the High Court now has a total of 31 judges against the sanctioned strength of 60. The oath of office of Justices Jasmeet Singh and Amit Bansal was administered by Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.N. Patel.

According to the fresh roster, Justice Jasmeet Singh will sit in Division Bench 1 (DB-1) which is headed by Chief Justice Patel while Justice Bansal would sit in DB-5 headed by Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw.

The President had approved the appointment of the two new judges on Monday. “…In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Jasmeet Singh and (ii) Amit Bansal, to be Judges of the Delhi High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices,” said a notification from the Ministry of Law and Social Justice.

Jasmeet Singh, B.Com (Hons), LL.B, has 27 years of experience, practicing in Delhi High Court and Subordinate Courts from 1992 onwards. He has been practising in Constitutional, Civil, Labour, Service, and Matrimonial covering all branches of Law. He has specialization in Service and Civil Law.

Amit Bansal, B.Com. (Hons), LL.B, LL.M, has specialization in Education Laws, Arbitration Laws, Indirect Taxes Law, Service Law. He served as Senior Standing Counsel, Central Board of indirect Taxes and Customs, Standing Counsel and Legal Advisor, Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) from 2004, National Testing Agency (NTA), Additional Standing Counsel, University of Delhi, in the Delhi High Court from 2008 and Additional Standing Counsel, NDMC from 1999-2005.
