Allahabad HC directs Prayagraj SSP to provide 24-hours security to man claiming threat to life

A single-judge bench of Justice Pankaj Bhati passed this order while hearing a Application U/S 482 filed by Ajay Yaswant Nehru.

The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj to make 24-hours security arrangements for a man who said there were threats to his life.

A single-judge bench of Justice Pankaj Bhati passed this order while hearing an application filed by Ajay Yashwant Nehru under Section 482 Code of Criminal Procedure.

Ajay Yashwant Nehru, a resident of Hamilton Road, Prayagraj, was said to be dead two years ago, appeared in the High Court to prove himself alive. He was presented in Court with security on a wheelchair.

In terms of the directions given by the High Court on February 9 followed by February 18 and February 26, a person claiming himself to be Ajay Yashwant Nehru( Applicant) is present before this Court on wheelchair.

“On perusal of photographs, given in support of the affidavit filed, prima facie, the person appears to be the persons whose photographs are annexed with the Affidavit,” the Court said.

“The said orders were passed by this Court only to verify the genuineness of the person, who has filed the present application and nothing more. After interacting with the person, who is present before this Court, he claims that his name is Ajay Yashwant Nehru and is a resident of 52/38, Hamilton Road, (Amarnath Jha Marg) Prayagraj. He also apprehends that his life is in danger,” the Court observed.

“The applicant need not be present on any of the dates unless so directed by this Court. Let a copy of this order be served to the  AGA who shall communicate to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj and the SSP Prayagraj shall ensue the compliance of this order forthwith,” the Court ordered.

The Court fixed the next hearing on the petition on March 18.
