A PIL has been filed in the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court alleging that the construction of a pipeline of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and other constructions being put in the sewage project are against the criteria set for them.
The PIL has been filed by Mustafa Stationwala together with advocate Kapil Mazavadia.
The counsel for the petitioner, Rishiraj Trivedi, informed the court that the work of sewage clearance is not being carried out as per parameters and the number of sewage plants under the project has been reduced from six to two.
According to the PIL, the chief engineer of the directorate of urban administration and development inspected the sewage works and wrote clearly in the report on 2 October 2017 that random work has been done. Referring to several technical flaws in the report, the chief engineer instructed that new excavations should not be done until the equipment is complete, but the contractor worked improperly. Moreover, instructions to improve the work were not followed.
The petitioner further alleged that the chief engineer of the urban administration and development directorate did not take any concrete action on the inspections which were asked to remove the gaps.
It is pertinent to note, that division bench comprising Justice Sujay Pal and Justice Shailendra Shukla of the Indore bench, transferred the matter to the main bench, as the petition of similar nature was under consideration in Jabalpur.
