Messaging giant WhatsApp has defended its new privacy policy in the Delhi High Court, stating that the latest update will not affect the privacy of personal messages of users.
The bench of Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh were hearing a petition, filed by Dr. Seema Singh through Advocates Meghan and Vikram Singh, challenging the new user policy 2021 of WhatsApp, claiming that it violates the ‘Right to Privacy’.
In its 709-page affidavit filed before thsi Court, the messaging service provider said, “The 2021 Update does not affect the privacy of personal messages with friends and family in any way. Users’ personal messages are and will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption, which means that neither WhatsApp nor Facebook can see these messages.”

The new privacy policy of WhatsApp has become the talk of the town, with the messaging service provider telling the users to either accept the same by May 15, or lose out on a lot of functions like restrictions to access their chat list, notifications, or calls.
