The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to submit a report as to whether the petitioner has been violating any provision of law by keeping birds as pets.
A single-judge bench of Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan V has further directed the respondents to refrain from insisting that the petitioner shall remove the birds from the terrace of his residence for the time being.
The petition is filed by Muthukkutti K. complaining that he and his family members are being subjected to harassment by the Circle Inspector of police and the SHO for keeping pet birds in their residence.
“The learned Government Pleader shall get instructions and report whether the petitioner has been violating any provision of law by keeping birds as pet,” the court said.
The bench has listed the matter for further hearing after a week.
