The Allahabad High Court on Friday sought information from the Standing Counsel within a week on a petition challenging the validity of the mandate issued on July 25 for the recruitment of Panchayat Assistants/Accounts cum Data Entry Operators in the Gram Panchayats of the state.
A single-judge bench of Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripath passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Devi Prasad Shukla.
In this petition, the Writ Petition has been preferred assailing the impugned Government Order dated July 25, 2021, issued by State qua selection and appointment on the post of Panchayat Sahayak/ Accountant-cum-Date Entry Operator; for a direction to the respondents to absorb the petitioner and similarly situated working Gram Rojgar Sewaks in the post/ cadre of Panchayat Sahayak/ Accountant-cum-Data Entry Operator and for a further direction to the respondents to contemplate the provisions of age relaxation and weightage/ preference for working experience to the petitioner and similarly situated Gram Rojgar Sewak for selection and appointment on the post of Panchayat Sahayak/ Accountant-cum- Data Entry Operator.
The petition said that the petitioner has been working as Gram Rozgar Sewak for the last 15 years to the utmost satisfaction of the authority.
The petitioner submitted that the impugned Government Order fresh selection is provided for the post of Panchayat Sahayak/ Accountant-cumData Entry Operator.
It is contended that the petitioner is working on a similar post since long but there is no weightage of experience/age in the aforesaid Government Order, which is absolutely arbitrary and misuse of power and such a procedure introduces an element of uncertainty in regard to his services and gives room for nepotism and corruption.

On one hand, experienced persons are being ousted and on the other hand in the light of the aforesaid Government Order fresh recruitment drive is being initiated, the petitioner alleged.
It is further contended that along with petitioner near about 37000/- similarly situated incumbents are also working on the remuneration of Rs.6000/- per month and as such the Court may come for rescue and reprieve of them.
The Court has fixed the next hearing of the Petition on August 20, 2021.
