Supreme Court recommendations for Punjab and Haryana High Court: 4 advocates listed for proposed elevation as judges

The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on September 1, 2021, has approved the proposal for elevation of advocates Vikas Suri, Vinod Sharma (Bhardwaj), Pankaj Jain and Jasjit Singh Bedi as judges in the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has a sanctioned strength of 85 Judges (64 Permanent Judges and 21 Additional Judges) which is the common High Court for the states of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, and is based in Chandigarh.

According to the list of Judges by the Department of Justice, Ministry, as on September 1st 2021, there are currently 33 sitting judges (permanent) and 12 additional judges at Punjab & Haryana High Court.

After the approval of recommended strength, the Punjab & Haryana High Court will have 49 sitting Judges.
