The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently disposed of a PIL seeking direction to the Madhya Pradesh government to make regular appointments in Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur.
The PIL was filed by one Anand Kumar Dwivedi way back in 2013 with the prayer that the respondents be directed to make regular appointments on the vacant and sanctioned posts of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur.
Parag Tiwari, Counsel appearing for the Rani Durgavati University, submitted that subsequent to the filing of the petition, the advertisement was issued and regular appointments for 13 posts of Professors, 27 posts of Associate Professors and 35 posts of Assistant Professors were made and that the petition has thus, outlived its purpose. Reference is made to advertisement issued on 20.01.2014.
The Jabalpur Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla while considering the Petition noted that the petitioner has till date not filed any rejoinder to the said reply.
“The petition is therefore disposed of with a liberty to the petitioner to make a fresh survey of the present status of various positions and if still some posts are lying vacant, to approach the respondents raising the grievance and then if need be, to file a fresh writ petition,”
