The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for appointment of three Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the Gauhati High Court.
The names of following additional judges were approved by the Supreme Court Collegium on September 9:
1- Justice Soumitra Saikia,
2- Justice Parthivjyoti Saikia, and
3- Justice S. Hukato Swu.
The Supreme Court Collegium is headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana and comprises Justices U.U. Lalit and A. M. Khanwilkar. The Collegium takes decisions with regard to appointment of High Court judges.
