The Nagaland Government has apprised the Gauhati High Court recently that all the villagers of Chenmoho entitled to receive rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana have received the same as per their entitlement for the month of April and May 2020.
The Kohima Bench of Justice Songkhupchung Serto and Justice Kakheto Sema heard a PIL filed by Pangloi Konyak and four others alleging that there are still 361 families in the village in Mon district, who have not received food grains under the scheme they are entitled to.
On October 19, Kekhriengulie, Additional Advocate General, by showing the report sent to the Registry by the Deputy Commissioner, Mon submitted that all the villagers of Chenmoho who are entitled to receive rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana have received the same as per their entitlement for April and May 2020.
Kikru Pfukha, counsel for the petitioners, submitted that she may be given time to verify from the beneficiaries as to whether they have actually received the same as per their entitlement under the scheme. The Court gave three weeks’ time to the counsel for the petitioners to enable her to receive instruction. In the meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Mon shall file the report sent by him with an affidavit ordered the Court.
It is pertinent to note that September 28, the High Court directed the concerned Deputy Commissioner to verify the claims of the 361 families.
