Taking cognisance of a letter addressed regarding the unmanned barricades in Kalkaji-CR Park, which served no purpose and also cause traffic jams, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to Delhi Police, Delhi government, Centre and SDMC.
The Court issued notice to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi and others on the basis of a letter written by Prakash Goyal, and addressed to the PM and to the Court.
The High Court further sought a status report from Delhi Police with regard to setting up of barricades in the city.
The Division Bench questioned that if this was a PIL and stated that the court would have to issue a notice to Delhi Police, who are the respondents.
Goyal, who claims to be a resident of Delhi and part of Aggrawal Samelan, has filed a complaint against the presence of unmanned barricades at the Kalkaji-CR Park area.
He also made reference to news articles published in the Times of India and a Hindi daily, claiming that unmanned roadblocks have caused inconvenience to the general public.

“Such barricades are also employed to create and maintain parking pandemonium. As a result, we have issued a direct notice to the Commissioner of Delhi Police and other areas. Respondent must submit their respective status reports by the following deadline,”
-noted the Court.
A record of the report on barricade construction in the city should also be maintained, added the Division Bench and fixed April 13 as the next date of hearing.
