The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in yet another case relating to Kotwali police station in Uttar Pradesh.
A bench of Justice L. Nageswara Rao, Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice A.S. Bopanna directed Khan to file for regular bail in front of a court of competent jurisdiction within 2 weeks.
The Bench also informed Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appearing on behalf of Khan that the copy of the order will be available by lunch.
Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, who was appearing for Uttar Pradesh, had opposed the plea by Azam Khan calling him a land grabber. He called Azam Khan a habitual offender.
Kapil Sibal told the court that the SP leader had nothing to do with the school that is in question as he was not running it.
It was only last week that the Allahabad High Court had granted interim bail to Azam Khan. The current application says that Azam Khan was arrested in another FIR which appears to be nothing apart from preventing him coming out from jail.
