Allahabad High Court issues notice to MLA Harsh Vardhan Bajpayee on election petition for filing a false affidavit

The Allahabad High Court has issued notice to MLA Harsh Vardhan Bajpayee on the election petition filed by former MLA and Congress candidate from City North Anugrah Narayan Singh.

A Single Bench of Justice Raj Beer Singh passed this order while hearing a Election Petition filed by Anugrah Narayan Singh

The Court issued notice to the respondent under Rule-5/6(a) of Chapter XVA of the Rules of the Court by Registered Post/AD as well as ordinary process fixing the date as 18.07.2022.

“Notice of the petition shall also be published in the News paper to be selected by the Registrar General of the Court as provided under Section 6(b) of Chapter XV-A of the Rules of the Court”, the order reads.

The Court has fixed the next hearing of the petition on July 18, 2022.

The petition has sought cancellation of the election for filing a false affidavit.

In the petition, MLA Bajpayee has been accused of filing a false affidavit to the Election Commission regarding his educational qualification, assets, bank loan.

The petitioner said that the opposition has declared the government property as his property and has shown the property of 22 crores as three and a half crores.

It is also alleged that this year’s election has given different information from the last 2017 assembly election. The loan is outstanding but with the connivance of the bank officials, the due certificate has been obtained. Also, he has obtained two degrees in the same year, which comes under the category of Corrupt Practice.
