Drugs on Cruise case: Aryan Khan gets clean chit from NCB

The Narcotics Control Bureau has given a clean chit to actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs on cruise case for lack of sufficient evidence.

Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha on October 2 last year. After four weeks in jail, he walked out on October 30 last year.

This year after the investigation was still in progress, the NCB’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) agreed to the fact that no evidence could be found against Shah Rukh Khan’s son. Anything to do with the “part of a larger drugs conspiracy or an international drugs trafficking syndicate” was rejected.

While the arrest was made, the special team investigating the case found that in the Cruise, many others were in possession of drugs but Aryan had no drugs on his person. The case was taken up by the NCB and Aryan also had to spend over 20 days in jail, after which he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on some conditions.

Aryan Khan, along with his friends model Munmum Dhamecha and Arbaaz Merchant, and five other persons, were detained after the ship they had taken for the cruise was raided. During the raid, the NCB seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of mephedrone, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy) and Rs 1.3 lakh from the ship.

The HC order said that merely because the three were travelling on the same cruise, by itself “cannot be a foundation for the charge of conspiracy against them”.

The order very clearly said that there was no evidence found that even suggests Aryan Khan carrying drugs during the raid, as per the early claims of NCB. The agency had earlier claimed that they had found Aryan in “conscious possession” of contraband substances.
