Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Allahabad HC denies bail to UP Minister’s son Ashish Mishra

The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday denied bail to Uttar Pradesh Home Minister Ajay Sharma Teni’s son Ashish Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which four farmers were run over by an SUV.

The Court said that if he is granted bail there are chances that he may influence the witnesses.

Earlier on July 15, the Lucknow Bench of Justice Krishan Pahal had reserved its judgment in the case after hearing the arguments of both sides.

Mishra had applied for fresh bail in the case after the Supreme Court cancelled the Allahabad High Court’s earlier bail order on February 10.

Mishra is facing a murder case for mowing down 4 farmers by an SUV, in which Mishra was allegedly sitting.
The prosecution case is that the minister’s son had mowed down the farmers, who were marching against Centre’s now-repealed three farm laws, in Utttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri.

The Union Minister’s son is the prime accused in the farmers’ killing in Lakhimpur Kheri. The incident had happened in October last year.
