The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Tuesday appealed to the Supreme Court to declare Raksha Bandhan as a holiday.
SCBA President and Senior Advocate Vikas Singh made the request before Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, stating that it was a request from the Bar.
In lieu of Thursday (August 11), Saturday (August 13) can be made a working day, Singh suggested.
The CJI replied that he will consider the appeal, after having discussion with other Supreme Court Judges.
According to Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan will fall this year on August 11.
