Former Member of Parliament and current MLA from RJD, Anil Kumar Sahani, along with two others, have been convicted by a local court in Delhi, for their alleged involvement in the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scam case.

The order was passed by Special Judge M.K. Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court on Monday.

The Court convicted Sahani, N.S. Nair and Arvind Tiwari under Section 120B read with 420, 471 of IPC and Section 13(1)(d) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

Sahani was also convicted under Section 201 IPC, 420 read with 511 IPC, 471 IPC as well as under Section 15 read with 13(1)(d), 13(2) of the PC Act.

CBI had filed a charge sheet against the JD (U) MP from Bihar in 2015, which alleged that Sahani and others had caused a loss of Rs 23.71 lakh to the exchequer through the LTC scam in 2013.

The CBI charge sheet further mentioned the names of Anup Singh Panwar, employee of Delhi-based Air Cruise Travels Private Limited; Nair, then Office Superintendent (Traffic), Air India, and Arvind Tiwari, a private individual, as accused in the scam.

They were charged for criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and abuse of public office.

CBI found during the investigation that Sahani, along with others, used forged e-tickets and fake boarding passes to defraud the Rajya Sabha of Rs 23.71 lakh in travel and dearness allowance reimbursement without actually traveling.

The national agency had filed a case against Sahani and others on charges of claiming reimbursement from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat using forged air tickets and boarding passes to defraud the government in 2013. The case was referred to CBI by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
