The Supreme Court collegium today has recommended the appointment of advocate Nagendra Ramachandra Naik as a judge of Karnataka High Court.
It has also recommended two judicial officers as judges for the Karnataka High Court named Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar and Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik
This is the third instance for Collegium reiterating Naik’s name.
The name of Advocate Nagendra Ramachandra Naik was was first recommended in 2019 and then reiterated twice – in March 2021 and September 2021.
As per the collegium report released today, the Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 10 January 2023 has, reconsideration, resolved to reiterate its earlier recommendation for elevation of Shri Nagendra Ramachandra Naik, Advocate as judge in the Karnataka High Court along with Ram Chandra Dattatray and Venkatesh Naik.
The current strength of Karnataka High Court is 49 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 62 – a vacancy position of 13.
