The Allahabad High Court has disposed of a petition of one Suresh Kumar Tripathi, a candidate contesting elections for teachers, in view of the assurance given by the Uttar Pradesh government and other respondents to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission for the Allahabad-Jhansi Khand Shikshak Nirvachan.
The Division Bench of Justice Surya Prakash Kesarwani and Justice Jayant Banerji passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Suresh Kumar Tripathi.
The writ petition has been filed praying for the following relief:-
“I. To issue a writ of mandamus, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to install CCTV Cameras on each booth and to deploy Central forces like CRPF at the time of voting on 30.01.2023 at all booths and also for security of ballot box and on counting centre on 02.02.2023 at Jhansi and to appoint additional observer for conducting free and fair election in Allahabad-Jhansi Khand Shikshak Nirvachan 2023.”
Counsel for the respondent nos1 and 2 stated that appropriate guidelines for conducting the elections have been issued by the respondent no1, which are to be followed by respondent nos 2 and 3.
He also stated that the guidelines shall be followed by the respondent no 2.
Additional Chief Standing Counsel submitted that guidelines issued by the Election Commission shall be followed by respondent no 3.
In view of the aforesaid, the Court disposed of the petition in terms of the aforenoted statement of the counsel for the respondents.
