Documentary row: Hindu Sena files fresh petition in Supreme Court to ban BBC

Members of the Hindu Sena under Vishnu Gupta,  National President of Hindu Sena, have filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court of India through Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha, demanding ban on BBC.

The petition seeks an NIA inquiry into the conspiracy by BBC for disturbing the unity and integrity of the country by publishing anti-India news.

The members of Hindu Sena have also accused the media organisation for the conspiracy to tarnish and malign the image of this country and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A writ petition has been filed under article 32 of the Constitution praying for issuance of writ mandamus commanding complete ban on British Broadcastinf Corporation from Operating India.

It also requested directions to initiate an investigation against the BBC and BBC India for Anti-India and Anti Indian Government reporting and documentary film .

It has asked that incase BBC and journalist therewith are found guilty they should be prosecuted under the IPC and Information Act 2000.

The BBC has been in controversy for its biased political reporting since beginning. This is evident from the fact that in 1935, the BBC censored the broadcast of Oswald Mosley and Harry Pollitt.

In 1938, Winston Churchill proposed series of talks regarding British domestic and foreign politics and affairs but it was also censored.

The censorship of political discourse by the BBC was a precursor to the total shutdown of political debate that manifested over the BBC war time airwaves.

The foreign office maintain that public should not be aware of their role in the censorship.

As per the petition it is a Public Interest Litigation preferred by the Petitioners as citizens of India.

The present petition is being filed by way of Public Interest Litigation and has been filed pro-bono in the interest of public at large and country in particular.

The petitioner has mentioned that he does not have any personal gain or private profit or political motive or any oblique consideration in this matter.

In the petition the petitioner has mentioned that he has not filed any other same or similar writ petition either in this Hon’ble Court or in any other High Court seeking the same or similar directions as prayed in the instant writ petition.

As per the petition filed it has been mentioned that BBC has been a threat to the unity and integrity of the nation and the channel should be banned in India immediately, Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta said.
