The Telangana High Court issued notice on a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over the vacant posts in the Value Added Tax Appellate Tribunal.
The petition was registered suo motu following the receipt of a letter from the President of National Association of Tax Professionals raising a grievance that for a long time, posts of Accounts Member as well as Departmental Member in the Telangana Value Added Tax Appellate Tribunal are lying vacant.
While considering the matter, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji issued notice to the respondents.
The Bench has been informed that there is a pending petition on the same subject matter.
The pendency of the writ petition would not be a bar for the respondents to take necessary steps to fill up the vacancies in the Telangana Value Added Tax Appellate Tribunal, the Court clarified.
