A Delhi-based lawyer has filed a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for making derogatory comments against the ruling dispensation on a foreign land.
Filed by Advocate Ravinder Gupta, the complaint sought registration of an FIR against Gandhi for disrupting the harmonious balance and ecosystem of India’s relations with foreign countries by targeting the democratic structure of the State in a derogatory and defamatory way.
It said Rahul Gandhi had committed an offence against the state under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Advocate Gupta alleged that on February 28, 2023, while delivering a lecture at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, The Old Schools, Trinity London, Cambridge, the United Kingdom, the Congress leader had brought hatred and dissatisfaction amongst the citizens towards the State as well as amongst the foreign nationals belonging to different States.
He said there was a vivid attempt at disrupting the national equilibrium by Gandhi, who strategically created a cynical environment, in order to garner negative attention towards the elected government and to create unnecessary issues with the democratic framework ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, which were scheduled to be held in 2024,.
The complainant said Rahul had alleged that the government in power had disrupted the democratic structure of the nation and that individuals were at a risk of their life and personal liberty. The mandate of the Supreme Court in the landmark case titled as “Kedar Nath vs. State of Punjab” AIR 1962 SC 955 was in tune with the factual matrix of the above case of Sedition against the State by Rahul Gandhi, noted advocate Gupta.
The seditious comments made by Rahul during his London speech derailed the work and approach of the government to maintain healthy and friendly relations with foreign countries. Rahul has disrupted the motto ot the Indian Government, which followed the principle of
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, to say the “World is One Family,” noted the plea.
It has also severely affected the mindset of people of this nation and has created a sense of hatred, enmity and animosity amongst the people, Advocate Gupta added..
