Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today refused to mark the presence of an absent lawyer, observing that the court was not there to generate revenue for advocates.
The CJI, while hearing a case, told a female lawyer that he remembered who all had appeared in the matter.
The woman lawyer insisted that the name of an Advocate be included in the order sheet of a case as having appeared in the matter.
However, the Bench headed by CJI Chandrachud observed that the courts cannot mark the appearance of an advocate, if he or she has not actually appeared in the case.
