The Supreme Court deferred hearing till September 4 on interim bail applications of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested in February this year in connection with the alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has been in custody since February of this year and is being investigated by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
The Bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice S.V.N. Bhatti passed the order on two petitions filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader against the Delhi High Court verdict, which denied him bail in two cases registered by the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation respectively.
On July 14, the top court of the country had issued notice on the petitions.
Appearing for Sisodia, Senior Advocate Doctor Abhishek Manu Singhvi sought interim bail on humanitarian grounds to enable the AAP leader to visit his ailing wife.
He contended that Seema was suffering from a degenerative disease, which was progressing.
Stating that there was no one else in the family to take care of her as Sisodia’s only son was abroad, Singhvi urged the court to grant interim relief to the petitioner.
The Senior Advocate further said that Seema was admitted to hospital in June and July.

The senior counsel said that Seema was experiencing difficulty in walking and had also encountered vision problems.
However, the top court of the country said that it would consider the interim bail plea at a later time along with the regular bail application.
