On alleged noise pollution caused by several banquet halls in Delhi, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has sought action taken reports from the Member Secretary , Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) , SDM Karol Bagh, and DCP Central, Karol Bagh, New Delhi.
The Principal Bench of CP, Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Justice Sudhir Agarwal, and Dr. A. SenthilVel heard an application raising grievance in respect of noise pollution on activities in Ajmal Khan Park At East Park Road, Karol Bagh, New Delhi by Raj Tents and Decorators, Raj Vatika Banquet Hall and Golden Moments Banquet Halls.
The Tribunal vide order dated 10.03.2023 had disposed of the original application with the direction that grievance can be looked into and based on verification of facts, remedial action can be taken in accordance with the earlier directions of the Tribunal in Hardeep Singh & Ors. v. SDMC & Ors. by the concerned authorities.
In pursuance to the order of the Tribunal, Action Taken Report dated May 2023 has been submitted by the Senior Environmental Engineer, DPCC, on the basis of which present application has been registered.
On perusal of the report , the Bench noted that the directions issued by the Tribunal have not been complied with by the competent authorities in true letter and spirit and only paper compliances have been done. The Action Taken Report has not been substantiated with data on noise levels monitored and notices issued to Barat Ghars in question and others.
Hence, the NGT called for Action Taken Reports from Member Secretary, DPCC, SDM Karol Bagh, and DCP Central, Karol Bagh, New Delhi in respect of the grievance noted in the order dated 10.03.2023.
