The High Court of Patna welcomed two new judges as Justice Nani Tagia and Justice Gunnu Anupama Chakravarthy sworn-in as judges of the High Court in a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.
Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Wednesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new judges.
Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, and Assembly Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary were among the distinguished guests, who graced the event.
Nani Tagia was born on May 16, 1969. He did schooling from Government Higher Secondary School, Ziro, Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh. He pursued graduation from Government College, Itanagar (Arunachal University) and finished LL.B. from Campus Law Centre (Delhi University).
Justice Tagia was designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court on August 4, 2014. He was elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on November 19, 2018 and became a permanent judge on November 10, 2020. Justice Tagia was transferred to the Patna High Court in 2020.
Justice Gunnu Anupama Chakravarthy started practicing as a lawyer at the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1994. Justice Chaudhari was directly elevated from the Bar and appointed as Additional Judge of the Patna High Court on October 12, 2018.
She later shifted to the judicial services and served as Registrar General of the Telangana High Court before her elevation and swearing-in as a Judge of the same High Court on March 24, 2022. She was later transferred to the Patna High Court.
