The Telangana High Court issued notice on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) questioning the states inaction in implementing the National Disaster Management Authority Guidelines 2016.
In the PIL, the petitioner inter alia seeks a writ of Mandamus to respondents to provide sufficient number of fire extinguishers and to get structural safety and soundness certificate, sanitation certificate, water purity certificate, periodically, in respect of Government Schools, Junior Colleges across the State, in view of the judgment of the Supreme Court dated 13.04.2009 and 14.08.2017 in W.P (C) No.483 of 2004 and in pursuance of the guidelines contained in National Disaster Management Authority Guidelines for School Safety Policy, 2016 and in the light of GO dated 26.07.2019.
While considering the PIL , the Division Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti issued notice to the respondents.
The counsel for official respondents accepted notice on their behalf.
The Counsel for the respondents prayed for and the Bench granted four weeks’ time to enable them to file compliance report.
