The move will help law students keep abreast of cases and data books of the Supreme Court

Giving a push to digitisation in the field of law, senior Supreme Court advocate and president of the India Legal Research Foundation (ILRF) Pradeep Rai along with Editor-in-Chief of APN, Rajshri Rai, donated an e-library to the Law School of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) recently.

The e-library was inaugurated at the alumni meet of the Law School by Rai and former minister of UP, Ambika Chaudhary. The online resource will help students get access to various data books of the Supreme Court.

With this online library, students can get detailed information about cases and legal developments in the Court, which would help them in understanding their profession better.

The alumni meet commenced with remembering and honouring the founder of the University, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Malviya also served as the Dean of the Law School for several years. Ambika Chaudhary, Om Prakash Shrivastav, Chaturbhuj Tiwari and other alumni were felicitated during the ceremony.

DK Sharma, Dean of the Law School at BHU, expressed his gratitude to Rai and the APN news channel on behalf of the Law School, saying: “The students are lucky to get access to the latest legal developments taking place, a privilege which was not available to us back then. We had to wait for law journals such as SCC and AIR, which we used to get through senior lawyers and that too, after a month.”

PAYING GRATITUDE

Prof JP Verma, ex-Dean, Law School, BHU, told the ex-students that they were products of BHU and should always keep in mind that whatever they do is being watched by Pandit Malviya. Prof Rudra Prakash Rai, professor at BHU, said: “A thank you would not be enough to express our gratitude to Pradeep Rai. The students are going to benefit heavily from this online resource as they will get immediate access to legal judgments.”

Rai, in his address, dedicated all his achievements to the guidance and love bestowed on him by his teachers at BHU. He said: “Your contribution and support is the reason behind all that we have achieved, without which nothing would have been possible.”

Rajshri Rai praised India Legal magazine as one of the leading law magazines with a pan-India presence. She also highlighted the free legal aid and counseling given to the public by India Legal Research Foundation and the legal shows hosted by APN, wherein the audience could straightaway connect with legal associates for answers to their queries. She also promised all help on behalf of APN in making educational resources available for the students of the Law School.
