The Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) Election Committee has corrected its voter list and included the name of Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai. The SCBA in its list issued on May 6, 2024, had put the name of the Senior Advocate in the rejected voters list, mentioning only 7 mediations.
In fact, senior advocates automatically have voting rights. That is why the SCBA Election Committee accepted this mistake and immediately corrected it, accepting his nomination against Kapil Sibal. Apart from this, being angry with the arbitrary manner in which the names of other members were removed from the voter list, the committee directed the release of a new voter list.
Speaking about the issue, Pradeep Rai said it was a mistake by the office of SCBA and his name has now been included in the list. The Senior Advocate has more than 200 appearances. The voter list has many more such mistakes and it is in the process of correction and the final list will be published tomorrow.
Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai is contesting for the post of President of the Supreme Court Bar Association. The elections are scheduled on May 16, 2024.
Pradeep Rai has been Vice-President of the SCBA for two consecutive terms in 2021-22 and 2022-23. The Senior Advocate is contesting against the present President Aadish Agarwala, Senior Advocates Priya Hingorani and Dushyant Dave. After the earlier News published by “The Law Advice”, Pradeep Rai published his banner on Instagram seeking votes for the post.
