The Karnataka MLA was arrested by the SIT after being denied interim anticipatory bail.
As per media reports, HD Revanna was booked on a complaint alleging that he abducted one of the victims of his son Prajwal Revanna. The news report said the victim worked as a house help at HD Revanna’s residence and was kidnapped to prevent her from testifying against Prajwal.
The sexual abuse allegations against Prajwal emerged after over 2,900 videos depicting the sexual assault of several women were circulated on social media.
Prajwal reportedly fled to Germany soon after the April 26 polls in Karnataka. He is yet to appear before the SIT.
On May 8, HD Revanna was sent to judicial custody till May 14, after the three-day custody granted to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the allegations against the Janata Dal (Secular) leaders, expired.
