Patna High Court dismisses PIL alleging irregularities in medical college admissions

The Patna High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that made bland allegations regarding admissions to medical colleges.

It is the contention that the mandatory procedure of the National Medical Commission has not been followed and there was no publication of merit list by the Controller of Examination.

The cancellation sought for is of the admission of the students in 20 medical colleges; none of whom are impleaded in the Petition, the Division Bench of Chief Justice  K. Vinod Chandran  and Justice Nani Tagia noted.

The persons who are said to have obtained admission illegally are also not impleaded; even in a representative capacity, the Bench further noted.

The contention is also that eligible students have not been admitted; in which event such eligible students who are aggrieved by the action of the Medical College could very well approach the Court.

The Court found absolutely no reason to entertain the petition as a public interest litigation and dismissed the same as totally misconceived.
