The Gauhati High Court is overseeing the construction of a double-lane steel girder bridge over the Teirei River in Mizoram.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed due to the project’s slow progress.
The bridge’s construction began in 2017 with a 24-month completion timeline.
However, the project remains incomplete, prompting the PIL.
During the hearing, respondents informed the court that the completion date has been revised to May 31, 2025.
The Court directed parties to produce approval documents for the extension.
On October 16, 2024, the court reviewed meeting minutes from August 13, 2024, indicating the contractor’s revised work program with a targeted completion date of May 31, 2025.
The Aizawl Bench of Justice Nelson Sailo and Justice Marli Vankung has adjourned the matter until October 23, 2024, allowing the Additional Advocate General time to obtain further instructions.
