Delhi High Court adjourns cases after bomb threat

Proceedings before several benches of the Delhi High Court were disrupted on Thursday morning after the court administration received an email warning of a bomb inside the premises. The threat, which created panic among litigants and lawyers, forced the benches to adjourn hearings until the afternoon session.

As soon as the message was flagged, court officials informed the benches, following which matters listed for the morning were put on hold. Litigants and advocates were asked to step out as precautionary checks were initiated. A senior official confirmed that the court has adjourned all cases till 2:30 PM.

Delhi Police and bomb disposal squads immediately reached the High Court complex to carry out an intensive search. Entry points were closely monitored, and security personnel were seen scanning vehicles and bags to rule out any risk. A police officer involved in the operation said that every such alert must be treated seriously, even if it later turns out to be a hoax.

The sudden adjournment caused inconvenience to litigants who had traveled for their hearings. Some lawyers expressed concern over the growing trend of such threats disrupting judicial functioning, remarking that these incidents not only waste valuable judicial time but also create unnecessary fear.

This is not the first time courts in the capital have faced security scares. In recent years, bomb threat emails have been reported at various public institutions, often turning out to be false alarms. However, authorities continue to follow standard security protocols in every case to ensure public safety.

Benches are expected to resume proceedings after lunch once the premises are cleared, while police officials have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threatening email. Further details are awaited from both the High Court administration and law enforcement agencies.
