The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday (December 23) filed its chargesheet against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar at the Patiala House Court.

The ED had earlier attached Bharti and her husband’s properties and had arrested Bharti’s Chartered Accountant Rajesh Aggarwal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Earlier, in September, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had taken possession of a farmhouse in Delhi in connection with its investigation against Bharti and her husband under the PMLA.

ED had attached a farmhouse located at Palam Farms. The Central Investigation Agency had said that the farmhouse belonged to Misa and her husband Shailesh Kumar and was named after Messrs Michelle Packers and Printers Pvt Ltd. It was alleged that it was bought in 2008-09 using Rs 1.2 crore of money that was being laundered.

The agency had also raided the farmhouse and some other places in July in connection with the investigation against two brothers, Surendra Kumar Jain and Virendra Jain, who had siphoned off crores of rupees by using shell companies.

The ED then arrested Jain brothers under PMLA.  The agency had also arrested a chartered accountant named Rajesh Agarwal, who played a role of middleman and paid cash of Rs 90 lakhs to Jain brothers for investing in Messrs Michelle Packers and Printers Pvt Ltd.
