The Supreme Court is dealing with a petition challenging the Bombay High Court order striking down beef ban in the state.
On Monday (January 8), the Court reserved its order on the matter and scheduled it for next hearing to the third week of February.
It is worth noting that while hearing the petitions filed against the Bombay High Court verdict, the apex court had earlier said that the Right to Privacy will have a bearing on the beef ban in Maharashtra.
In the decision on the Right to Privacy, Justice Chelameswar had noted: “I do not think the state should tell anyone what people should eat or how to dress or what to do with their personal, social or political life.”
