Anti-Sikh riot victim’s widow says that Sajjan Kumar was the one who instigated mob

The case of Sajjan Kumar’s involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots came up in camera at the Patiala House Court on Monday (January 15) before judge Poonam A Bamba.

The entire proceeding was in-camera, but it was reliably learnt that victim widow Sheela Kaur not only deposed against Sajjan Kumar, but during the cross-examination by the lawyer of Sajjan Kumar she clearly pointed a finger at the Congress leader (Sajjan Kumar), identifying him as the person who instigated the mob in Delhi’s Sultanpuri, where she lived.

Sajjan’s lawyer on Monday asked her some questions and told the court that the witness’ statement was unreliable.

Sheela Kaur also told the court that she got threat calls several times and now is going to write a letter to the CBI regarding this. Sheela Kaur’s husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law were burnt alive by a frenzied mob in 1984.

There will be further cross-examination on February 7.
