Delhi HC issues advisory to Judicial Officers to record evidences by themselves

The Delhi High Court has directed all the lower courts in Delhi to record evidences by themselves and not to record more than one evidence at same time in same court room.

The Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal while issuing advisory (see below) and citing recommendations of the “Rules Committee under Section 477 of the CrPC and all other Criminal Statutes and Jurisdictions” directed: “Practice, if any, by the Subordinate Courts of not recording evidence of witnesses themselves and/or allowing recording of evidence in more than one case at the same time is highly deprecated and all Judicial Officers are directed to get the evidence recorded themselves. This Court will take a serious view of any such aberration, if reported.”
