The Allahabad High Court on Friday (February 23) cancelled an order of the suspension of 16 students of IIT Kanpur found to be indulging in ragging.
The bench comprising of Justice Manoj Mishra passed the order observing that the Senate of IIT Kanpur had made a mistake by suspending some students for six years and some for one year and subsequently debarred them from residing in the college campus till suspension without proving the charges against them.
The bench further said that the students have the right to take exams and to reside in the premises. But it prohibited them to neither meet nor interact with the new students on the premises.
